A day in Playful Penguins

Our baby room is spacious and by ofsted standards could accommodate twelve babies. However, we mainly limit this to nine to allow us room to provide more stimulating activities for them to enjoy.

The babies are encouraged to develop their first skills, touching, smiling, sitting, grasping, crawling, walking, and talking. A wide range of stimulating equipment such as mobiles, pop-up toys, mirrors and musical instruments are provided. We also have some sensory equipment, soft play and lots of activity equipment.

The Playful Penguins work together with the Nursery themes and participate in art work including sticking, painting, drawing, colouring etc. On a one to one basis or as a small group.

After extensive play we have two warm and comfortable cot rooms for tired and sleepy babies to replenish their energy. They are also able to sleep in the main room and we will of course try to follow any routines already established at home. Sleeping babies are monitored regularly.

Parents may, if they wish, make bottles of formula milk to bring in or we can make up the feeds in the Nursery with formula milk provided by yourselves. Parents who are breast feeding can discuss their requirements with the staff on their initial visit.
