This club is designed to meet the needs of parents who need childcare on a one-off basis, for example while they attend an appointment or just need a few hours to themselves from time to time. It is open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday to any child between the age of 2 and 5, whether or not they regularly attend the Children's Centre. They will have the opportunity to join with other children of their own age in the Pre-School curriculum for a maximum of three hours.
SWIMMING LESSONS
Swimming lessons are on offer at a small additional charge to all children over 3 and take place once a week for half an hour. The children and staff are instructed by a qualified swimming instructor. The ratio in the swimming pool is at least 1 adult to 3 children. The aim is to give children more confidence in the water and to prepare them for swimming lessons in the school environment. This is a fun time where the children learn to co-ordinate their arms and legs, and have the confidence to go under water, jump in from the side whilst playing many games.
Your child will need to bring a swimming costume/trunks and a towel. Certificates and badges are awarded termly for the children's progress.
GYM CLASSES
Gym classes are offered on a similar basis and take place once a week. They are taught by a qualified gym instructor with the assistance of the Nursery staff and the activities fit well into the children's physical development programme. Certificates and badges are awarded for the children's achievements.
Your child will need to wear a T-shirt and shorts/jogging bottoms. They usually have bare feet or non-marking clean trainers.

DANCE CLASSES
Dance classes are also offered once a week by a qualified ballet teacher assisted by nursery staff, helping towards physical skills, whilst encouraging the children to be creative and move more freely.
Children can initially start with bare feet but are required to purchase ballet shoes after a few weeks.
TRIPS
We are very fortunate to have our own minibus. Therefore we can take the children out on regular outings and we plan trips for the nursery to follow on with topics to extend their learning. Apart from using the minibus we also take the children out on local walks to the library and park, sometimes taking a picnic too. We do have a range of single and double pushchairs for the younger children and babies.
For our holiday club children we aim to plan a variety of different trips to meet every child's needs and entertain them.
OUTSIDE PLAY AREA
We have fully equipped outside areas which are enclosed within the Nursery grounds. These are covered with a safe play surface to provide a safe environment where children can get daily fresh air and exercise. We encourage physical development here such as running, hopping, skipping and jumping. We also help children to learn to climb, balance, ride bikes, throw, catch and kick a ball. In the garden we also aim to encourage group activities and games to get the children interacting together and having fun to develop all areas of their learning. We have a nice sitting area so that all the children can join staff to sing songs or read a story or just have a quiet rest after all the exercise.
