When a parent enquires about a suitable space, the parent is invited to look around the Children's Centre and, if they would like to take up the place offered, will be asked to complete a registration form and pay the appropriate registration fee. Parents/carers must read through the Admissions Booklet and sign the payment agreement on this document to confirm that they agree to the terms and conditions within it. Once the registration form has been completed it will be discussed with the parents/carers how they would like to settle their child into the setting.
We recommend that all children have two settling in sessions. The first is for one hour where you stay with your child to discuss your child's needs with their key worker. The second is where you would leave your child for one hour. Each child is unique so the settling in process can change dependant on the child and parents needs. Settling in sessions are free of charge.
KEY Person AND LEARNING
Once your child has started to attend they will be allocated a Key Person, who will be responsible for observing their progress and planning activities to meet their needs to enable them to progress in all areas of development. All children have a profile in which the key worker collects information related to the child's development.
The Early Years Foundation stage was introduced in September 2008, which the Government has provided for all child care providers. This encourages individuality and helps children to make choices about their play. It also encourages lots of sensory play, which helps children to be confident and independent. Staff carefully plan individual children's progress through observations and the childs interests.
SPECIAL EDUCATION NEEDS
We offer a high quality service to all our users and we have a trained Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO). We are able to recognise the needs of all children and through key-worker systems are able to identify children who may have a special educational need. Once identified the SENCO works in partnership with parents to work with Individual Play Plans (IPP), Individual Educational Plans (IEP) and so on. We also provide care for children who already have a special educational need, ensuring liaison with parents and other professionals to plan and deliver an individualized program to meet your child's needs. If you would like to view our Special Educational Needs Policy for more information please speak to Sue or Karen at the centre.
BEHAVIOUR
All children are encouraged to show positive behaviour in all areas. Little Treasures staff use positive methods when unacceptable behaviour occurs. Key aspects include redirection, anticipation and removal of potential problems, and positive reinforcement and encouragement. Little Treasures operates a Behaviour Policy which is available from the office. Our rules are on display in each room of the Children's Centre.
