Out of School Care

A natural progression for the children who live locally to Little Treasures would be to use the After Schools Club and Holiday Club once they enter school. The children will be familiar with their surroundings and will already know the staff, as some staff work with both age groups, and some of their friends.

It is important to register your child with these facilities as soon as possible if you would like to take advantage of them, as we do have waiting lists for all the clubs and children do not automatically transfer from the Nursery to the other facilities.

AFTER SCHOOLS CLUB

For this service we meet your child from school at the end of the day and escort them back to Little Treasures. All Children are collected from school by our own "walking bus". We are working alongside Southend Borough Council to promote a healthier life style. Some children walk part of the way to Little Treasures and then are transported by the minibus or car. The children are rewarded for walking with stickers which they can collect to obtain prizes.

Once the children reach the club for a fun filled afternoon they will find a variety of activities available for them to chose from . We provide play for the creative, such as painting, messy play and cooking. We offer board games, computer games and a wide range of physical activities such as trips to Chalkwell Park, team games and outdoor sports weather permitting. We constantly upgrade toys and equipment with the continually changing needs of the children. Children are involved in some of the decision making of the activities provided and the rules of the club with regard to promoting positive behaviour. The older children respond well to this responsibility and it helps them to take an active part in their club, helping them to prepare for decision making as they approach Year 7. We can also provide your child some quiet time with support for homework and reading. A tea and dessert is provided to ward off the hunger pains (see menu for more detail) until you come and collect them at 6 p.m. or before. Juice is freely available throughout the afternoon. At the present time the schools we are able to offer this service to are: Chalkwell Hall, Darlinghurst, Milton Hall, St Mary's, Our Lady of Lourdes. We also collect from Westborough School at 1.30 pm.

HOLIDAY CLUB

We cover most of the school holidays including half terms and odd days on which the schools are closed. A leaflet is produced detailing the activities we are going to provide and places are given on a first come first served basis. People who have used the service before or who have asked to go on the mailing list receive details of activities and trips on offer.

Three meals are provided throughout the day by our in House chef. As well as organised trips out we invite outside agencies into our club to offer football coaching, drama and road safety. We use teams each day to help encourage the children to be helpful and work in harmony with their peers. This also helps the children to make friends and support those who would like help. Children are encouraged to participate in all the activities on offer and we want everyone to have as much fun as possible.
